Description We do not offer any guarantee/replacement/refunds on shipments of Rare Ornamental Pheasants. As their name implies, Ornamental Pheasants are visually beautiful birds. Exhibiting a wide array of varying colors and patterns, all of these birds are true trophies. Similar to the standard Ringneck Pheasant in shape and behavior, the Ornamental Pheasant varieties show off even more amazing plumage. With rich striped and speckled patterns in red and gold, bronze and white, silver and blue, and more, Ornamental Pheasants resemble peacocks in the intricacy and beauty of their feathers. Introduce these to your gamebird range and show hunters a beautiful bird like they have never seen before. Possible colors include Red Golden, Yellow Golden, Dark Throat, Splash, Peach, Cinnamon and Lady Amherst. Golden — Also known as the Chinese Pheasant, the Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus) is the wild-type native to the mountainous forests of Western and Central China. Males have a golden crest and rump, and a cape of barred orange and black feathers. The upper back feathers are shimmering green, and the wings display patches of blue. The rest of the body is bright red, ending with long buff and black barred tail feathers. Females have a more subdued pattern that provides better camouflage while nesting. Their plumage is mottled brown with black barring, and a pale brown face, throat, breast, and sides. Red Golden — A mutation of the Golden Pheasant, the Red Golden male’s crest and rump feathers are red instead of golden-yellow. The orange cape is more reddish, and the body is a more saturated red. Yellow Golden — Another mutation of the Golden Pheasant, the Yellow Golden male has a more pastel appearance, with a pale yellow crest and rump, pale orange cape, and a pale salmon-orange body. Cinnamon — Compared to the Yellow Golden male, this mutation results in a somewhat warmer pastel. The crest feathers are a cinnamon color, while the bright red body plumage is pinkish-orange. Peach — This mutation results in overall soft peach colored plumage, with no dramatic patches of red or yellow. Dark Throat — In this color mutation the male’s throat is dark red (almost black), and the body is more reddish-brown. The crest and cape feathers are the same colors as the Golden Pheasant’s, making the contrasting dark red throat especially dramatic. Splash — This mutation adds irregular splotches of white feathers to otherwise normal wild-type golden crest and red body plumage. Lady Amherst — The the overall plumage color of the Lady Amherst Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) male is black and white, combined with a scarlet red crest and a metallic green neck. Identification — To distinguish the Golden Pheasant male (and mutations) from the Lady Amherst male, look for the latter’s white rump and long barred black-and-white tail. The two species will interbreed to develop colorful hybrids known as Rainbow Pheasants. “Sorry we do not tell you what color we sent with this package and we do not keep records of what breeds are sent” No shipments to Alaska
